In this article, I will show you the two ways to sync your strength sessions from Strava to the Coach Parry app if you DON'T have a strength activity type on your fitness device.
Before showing you the steps, you need to make sure that you have selected the correct activity setting on your fitness device. Every device is slightly different so it is impossible to go through all the various options here, unfortunately.
Ideally, you want to be able to do the strength session using a strength training activity type (if your device has this option). If it does and you are recording your strength sessions using it, you shouldn't need to follow these steps.
If you do not have a strength setting, then select the activity type 'Other' (most devices have this).
Time the session as you would any other training session and upload it to Strava.
From here you have 2 options to map it to the correct training session in your Coach Parry Training schedule.
Option 1 - Change the workout type to 'Weight Training' on Strava immediately after the upload or
Option 2 - Manually sync it to your strength session in the Coach Parry Training App
Let's show you how to do both:
Option 1 - Change the workout type to 'Weight Training' on Strava immediately after the upload
In this tutorial, I will show you how to pull the data from Strava into the strength session that is scheduled for the 10th of July (See image below)
Immediately after the activity has uploaded into Strava, click on the activity to open it and then click on the edit activity icon:
You can then change the sport type by clicking on the dropdown icon. Once the dropdown menu is open, select weight training and then click on the 'save' button:
If changed immediately, the session will then upload into the Coach Parry Training Platform and map to the strength training session automatically.
If you aren't able to change the session immediately on Strava, then you will need to change it manually using option 2 below:
Option 2 - Manually sync it to your strength session in the Coach Parry Training App
If you aren't able to change the activity in Strava or if it uploads into your schedule before making the changes above, the activity will be added to your training schedule as follows:
In order to map the workout to the correct session, all you need to do is click on the strength session (The black block) to open it and click on the 'Analyze' tab:
Then click on the 'Sync' tab:
After that click on the dropdown option to select a Strava Activity:
On the dropdown select the Strength Workout you are wanting to map to the activity in the Coach Parry platform:
Then click the 'Sync Now' button and then 'Save All'
That will then change the session to complete and you can delete the workout that was pulled in from Strava automatically by clicking on the three lines on the bottom right of the block and then selecting the delete option:
This will remove the duplicate and correctly map the strength session.
